Highlights of the tour in Ljubljana:
An 18th-century baroque fountain by Francesco Robba in front of the Town Hall, modelled on Rome’s Piazza Navona fountains. Its three figures represent Ljubljana’s rivers.
St. Nicholas Cathedral, a green-domed baroque church with striking bronze doors added for a papal visit, marking centuries of Ljubljana’s religious history.
Designed by architect Jože Plečnik along the river, the market colonnade is where locals still shop daily for fresh produce, local products and flowers.
A modern glass-and-steel pedestrian bridge, now covered in padlocks left by couples, connecting the market colonnade to the Old Town.
Guarded by four bronze dragons, this Art Nouveau bridge from 1901 is one of Ljubljana’s most photographed landmarks and a symbol of the city.
